WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEDICARE v. MEDICAID
You may be asking why do you need Medicaid healthcare benefits when you already have Medicare?
Start with the following premise, Medicare is meant to get you back healthy. It is set up for providing short-term care for Seniors. Long-term healthcare is paid for by you.
MEDICARE FACTS:
- Medicare pays benefits for a maximum of 100 days in a nursing home.
- Medicare does not pay for non-skilled assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), which are the majority of long-term care services.
- YOU WILL PAY for long-term care services not covered by Medicare.
FLORIDA MEDICAID FACTS:
- Florida Medicaid provides a myriad of programs providing long-term care for Seniors.
- MEDICAID pays the largest share of long-term care services for Seniors age 65+;

HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR FLORIDA MEDICAID BENEFITS?
